The first bunch will mostly have been started in 2010, but it's easier than keeping track of books both started and finished this year. Been meaning to try to keep a list, but keep getting hung up on that sort of detail.

1) The Importance of Being Seven by Alexander McCall Smith
The latest entry in the 44 Scotland Street series. Not sure if it's actually out in the US yet; I ordered it from http://www.bookdepository.co.uk / bookdepository.com -- recommended for all your UK-only book needs, BTW. If you've been reading the series, you know whether you like it or not; if you haven't, best to start at the beginning. Each book is a collection of the stories originally published weekly in The Scotsman; it begins with the people living in a particular building in Edinburgh, and follows them over the next year(s). Internal chronology is a bit hanndwavy; more than a year's worth of events seem to have happened for some characters, but the youngest one has been 6 for most or all of the series. Perhaps it's simply been an extraordinarily busy year for the others. Regardless, I enjoy them quite a bit.
