another day, another 400 miles...

nollyIn today's mail: rejection latter from RKC (last Friday's interview). No big deal -- while I thought the interview went OK, it didn't feel like a great fit.
Today's interview: I really liked this company. They're small but growing and use lots of Open Source software. They've demonstrated an ability to keep up with and adapt to a changing market -- they started out doing hosted mailboxes 4 years ago; now they're a mail gateway for companies. I think this was my best interview yet; I don't feel like I really fumbled any questions (though something may come to me later). I was one of the first people they interviewed, and they're planning to do interviews for another week or two, so I probably won't hear anything before then.
Ikea is a good place for a rest stop -- nice clean bathrooms right in the front, larger and cleaner than the average gas station, and the snack bar right by the exit is a great place to get a drink. On a trip with more free time and a larger budget, I'd consider it a lunch option, too -- I like the salmon plates in their restaurant. And really, you don't need much of a food budget to eat at Ikea -- their food prices are as good as their furniture prices. Better, actually -- some of their furniture is kind of pricey. But today, it was a bathroom break and a source of lingonberry juice.
