So wrong, yet so funny. If Bonsai Kitten offends you, this will too.

Octodog was only the beginning.

A butcher shop near where I worked in the 70s had a sign offering WABBITS. I wondered how anyone (other than Elmer Fudd) could bring himself to buy one. On the other hand, having had pet rabbits, I am convinced that an ethical vegetarian could eat hasenpfeffer.

Growing up on a farm, we had neighbors a few miles away who raised rabbits as livestock, maybe a dozen at a time, pen and coop and all. Once, while haying for them, I had lunch with them and they served fried rabbit - it was quite tasty.

I hate to say it, but it *was* very much like chicken. Yummy!
cheers,
ybiC

Barbecued bunny is our traditional Easter dinner. Yeah, it's a bit disturbing, but both kids insisted on it. (Their teachers in preschool and elementary school did make us stop putting the leftovers in their lunch on Monday, though.)

(Please forgive the hijack, Nolly...)

Where do you buy your rabbit? I want to cook some up sometime soon, and am not sure where to get any around here.

Cosentino's -- near the corner of Union and Bascom; there's also one at Lawrence and Homestead. In the quantities we use on Easter, it has to be special-ordered, but I believe they usually have some in stock.

Almost certainly also available at Draeger's in Menlo Park.

Yeah, my mom says it tastes like chicken, too.

I remember seeing it in the freezer section at Food Lion (I think; one of the ordinary grocery stores) when I was in HS. But that was in NC, and 10 years ago.

Somehow, I knew you'd like that :)
