I spent most of my Christmas money on yarn. Specifically, I've ordered the yarns and patterns for a couple of projects for myself. (Actually, I got one of the patterns at a LYS and ordered the other.)

First, Needle Beetle's Tiger Swallowtail Shawl. I wanted to use the colors of the actual butterfly, so I'm using Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Bee Stripe.

Next is the Great American Aran Afghan. I'm doing this one in heathered green and fisherman Wool-Ease, as an afghan this size requires rather a lot of yarn, and my budget is not unlimited. I plan to checkerboard the colors, probably expanding to a 5x5 afghan, and do the border in green.

Of course, when or if I finish either of these projects is anyone's guess. But they should be worth the effort!

I have some local friends who are always knitting socks and sweaters and scarves and the like, but as a person who is always hot it's not something I've had any interest in. Looking at *that*, though ... <drops jaw> ...wow!

What She Said. And a gold star (See? It's right there) for doing it in the actual colors.

I actually invested in yarn to make something for myself, too. (finally! Last time I tried it wound up living with [livejournal.com profile] kshandra!)
You'll have to post some pictures once it gets going!

Let's see if I actually manage to make the thing, first. *grin*

It's generally warm enough here that selecting projects can be a feat. There are patterns for more summery garments available, though.

I will! The yarn hasn't even arrived yet, though.

I crocheted some scarves and hats for holiday presents using Wool-Ease. The yarn is pretty soft and the projects went quickly. Please post your finished projects as I would be interested in seeing them.
