After the movie, [livejournal.com profile] samuraimeg and I met [livejournal.com profile] filmbuff for dinner. We cast the Muppet's Guide to the Galaxy:
Kermit is the voice of the Guide.
Gonzo is Ford.
Dr. Teeth is Zaphod.
Janis is Trillian (but Piggy keeps burtsting in trying to take the part away
from her)
Rowlf is Slartibartfast.
The Vogons are Stadtler and Waldorf.
Fozzie is performing at the restaurant at the end of the universe. (The
Swedish Chef is probably the cook, but I just thought of that.)
Rizzo and friends are the mice.
Sam the Eagle is Marvin.

Oh, I've revisited this so many times. I'll just chime in with the few that are mostly beyond argument:

Dr. Strangepork = Gag Halfrunt.
Link Hogthrob = B-Ark Captain.
Caveman learning Scrabble = Animal.

Close to the same cast me and my friends came up with!

We have a bit different

Kermit the Frog - Arthur
Sam the Eagle - The Book
Boober Fraggle - Marvin

not going into the minor cast we came up with

I think Kermit would really have to be Arthur, as they are both "everyman."

Kermit's just too calm, not neurotic enough.

Kermit just doesn't worry enough for Arthur. He's too calm.

There's usually (at least) one human charcter who's swept up in all the muppety nonsense, so we thought maybe the same guy as the recent movie. Couldn't think of a good Muppet for the part, really.

I was thinking Scooter would be perfect for Arthur, myself. *shrugs*

Perhaps Bert would make a good Arthur. For that matter, perhaps Ernie would make a good Ford.

Frankly, anyone is mad who wouldn't cast Dr. Bunson Honeydew as Slartibartfast. This frees up Ralf for the voice of the Guide, which is entirely the wrong sort of humor for Kermit. Kermit can be Eddie.
