So I woke up this morning to a headhunter calling. About a job that pays slightly less than I was making 4 years ago at my first post-college job. In fact, it'd be a defense contractor, just like that one. I sent her my stuff, but I doubt it'll lead to anything -- the job desc wanted SNMP and LAN/WAN experience, which I really don't have.

A few hours later, another one called me, probably about the same job, but he was talking my 2-years-ago contract rate, which is still lame, but slightly less so.

Watched Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion this afternoon. Amusing, but not quite what I thought it was going to be -- I think I'd mentally mixed up the plot summary with something else. Still, it made me glad I went to a geek school.

Ron '89 and Ritina Davenport '93 Pacheco

About a month ago, doctors discovered a tumor behind the eye of their
seven-year-old son, Thomas. After removing the tumor in a four hour
operation, it was discovered to be malignant, a type of cancer found in
the bones. Thomas is one of only seven and is the youngest to have this
type cancer in the soft tissue. Thomas is scheduled this week to have a
central line installed for chemotherapy and for drawing bone marrow for
testing. He will undergo chemotherapy and possibly radiation treatments.
Updates will be posted on their home congregation's web site.

Mr. Pacheco was one of my CS professors in college. Thomas was born during that time. I remember him as a baby and toddler...the stories Mr. Pacheco would tell in class (Thomas liked ST:TNG much better than Barney, and could identify the TNG characters at ~18 months (I might be misremembering his age, but young, less than 2)) He loved to play with the phone and KB when Mr. Pacheco brought him to school. The guy I was dating at the time and I bought him a toy cell phone so he'd have his own phone to play with instead. Please pray for this family.
