Aug. 15th, 2002 09:04 amThanks for the Korean food suggestions. I ended up going to 99 Ranch and finding some Korean cookies and juice. The cookies are likely knock-offs of Japanese food rather than actually Korean -- Choco Pretch is pretty clearly a Pocky knock-off; the other cookie was Choco Zoo-World, little cookie balls filled with chocolate with animal faces printed on them. The Mandarin Orane Drink was pretty good - very pulpy, but a juicy pulp, not like US OJ.
If I'd had more time to track down ingredients and make things, I probably would've gone for the rice + stuff. However, I don't have a way to keep things warm at the table (also a problem with ramen), and the last time I tried having them in the kitchen, it ended with a kid running all over the place with a (dinner) knife. Not Good.
