Anyone happen to have a restaurant recomendation in the Long Beach area? My Mom's in town briefly for a conference; I'm going up tonight to have dinner with her (and, I believe, one of her coworkers). We can always ask the concierge at their hotel, but I like getting recommendations from folks I know.

Rock Bottom Brewery which has the double advantage of being right in downtown LB and having a nicely varied menu.

A little further afield, but worth the trip is Le Creperie in Belmont Shore. Save room for a dessert crepe after your dinner crepe! This also comes with the Rick Foss Okie-Dokie Stamp of Culinary Approval.

Depends how close you think qualifies as "Long Beach area".

http://www.papadakistaverna.com/ in San Pedro (right on the other side of the harbor, basically) is good greek food, and way too much fun, but you have to like loud. Free floor show with every dinner.

A bit further north, and more traditional, http://www.kincaids.com/ on the Redondo Beach pier.

I think the first is not quite what we want for this evening. The second is possible, but so far, I'm thinking La Creperie is the best idea.

Their Long Beach location may still be closed for remodeling, but Bellflower isn't very far.

Well, it sounds good to me, but Mom might want something she can't easily get at home -- my parents live in southeast Texas. Not sure if this particular coworker is based out of Charlotte or not, but that's where the main office is, so it's likely. I'll keep it in mind, though.

Oh, and for Carolina-style BBQ there's Lucille's. They're an offshot of Hof's Hut, a long-time Long Beach favorite.

La Creperie was great! Well, the jazz trio covering John Denver was a little odd, and I wish the tables were less slippery -- too easy to knock things off -- but the food and service were wonderful, and the prices are so reasonable! Thanks so much for recommending it!

Another one I may check out sometime; we went to La Creperie tonight, and enjoyed it very much. Excellent food and service, and extremely reasonable prices.
