My closet is broken.

*blink*

I don't know when it happened; I was in and out much of the day. I was getting ready for bed just now when I noticed a box on the floor. A box which had been on the shelf. I looked, and the rod is severely bowed, and the shelf and its supports have pulled away from the wall.

If it was overloaded, it was no more so than it has been for the past three years. It was OK when I got my skirt out this morning, and I haven't touched it since.

I guess I'll call the landlord in the morning. Good thing this room's mostly clean. I should pick up a bit in the entry, though, and close the office doors; it's a wreck.

I should probably pull out all the clothes, too.

Closets aren't supposed to break.

That happened to my mother in the condo in which she had been living, and just this week in the place into which she just moved. Go figure.

Bad closet. No breaking allowed.

Maybe the monster in it was rowdy?

You broke the closet?

Or rather, your stuff broke the closet? What was in that box on the shelf? What did the repairman say when she or he fixed the thing, if you were there to hear?

The mind boggles. Reels, too. Crummy apartments... you should move. Find a house or a condo somewhere, and get out where if it breaks, you're the one who has to fix it. That's the ticket...
