Since there has been neither great outcry against my initial selection nor proposal of alternate location, I declare the prior suggestion A Plan. Monday, 7PM, Mandarin Garden in the Mira Mesa mall. Please let me know by Monday if you're planning to attend so I can make a reservation.

If you want to make me really happy, agree to split one of the soups I like -- I prefer sizzling rice or egg drop, but usually everyone gets hot and sour. *grin* (Not that everyone, or even anyone, has to eat my preferred soup. Just that they don't do single servings, so I often pass on soup altogether for lack of someone to split with, and I figure a heads-up might help.)

We'll probably be in San Diego then, so we may show up (assuming this is truly open invitation and you really intended to invite people you randomly stumbled across at a book signing), depending on transportation, finances, babysitting, and so on. We'll let you know.

Oh, and I have no idea what sizzling rice soup is, but I prefer egg drop to hot and sour.

Y'all are most certainly welcome. [livejournal.com profile] samuraimeg is up for egg drop, too, so that sounds like a plan.

Hi -- I talked with you a bit at Conjecture, about Ursula Vernon, among other things. Wasn't sure what your e-mail address was, so I'm just posting here; hope you don't mind. Ursula's novel and other fiction writings can be found on Elfwood, at http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/libr/u/r/ursula3/ursula3.html. There used to be more stuff up there, but I think she decided it wasn't good enough for public exhibition and took it down. She's so fortunate to be an amazing artist and writer.

Also, poking around here, I noticed that you went to NCSSM, to which I can only say -- nifty. Several of my friends went, and I almost went but decided to stay at my local high school so I could graduate early. From what I saw during my visits there, it's a great if insane and high-pressure sort of place.

Cool! What part of NC were you in? Your local school must've been better than mine; I had no desire to stay. I'm going back for my 10 year reunion next weekend.

I grew up in the Triangle area and went to high school in Chapel Hill; I didn't personally think much of the schools, but everyone says they're better than most of the alternatives, so I believe em :-). While I did the science/math geek thing in high school (yay Science Olympiad and all), I've always been more of a humanities person than anything, and I was afraid that the coursework at NCSSM might not really keep my interest.

Have fun back to Durham; it's a beautiful time of year to visit. I went down in July to visit some friends and stop by the local Con, and all I can say is that I'm glad I got to spend most of my time inside :-).
