Jan. 10th, 2005 02:27 pmI don't have words for the funeral and all. I might later, but I don't today. I did want to recard that it happened, and I was there, and I wish I'd seen everyone under more pleasant circumstances.
While taking a break betwen Mahj games at the clubhouse, I looked over the sale shelves in the front hall, and found a couple of interesting books: a Tom Holt, Who's Afraid of Beowulf? and History As You Heard It, which is excerpts from Lowell Thomas's radio news broadcasts, from 1930-1955. The book was published in 1957. This, I think, is exactly the sort of history book I want. I'm still reading the table of contents, which has a capsule summary of each year. I wish I had something similar for other time periods, but it's a start. (well, it and the umptyzillion other books I've got in queue...)
