Heh. We've got that, and also the sequel.

The sequel is evil. It contains the red beast which shall not be named, and who is inferior to Grover in every way. Grover is the only true Monster at the End of the Book.

true, that.

Except I have at least 3 incarnations of that red beast sitting not 10 feet away from me. And two of them dance.

Is that not scary?

At least that one is better than the Great Purple Satan.

I love that book too, its the first book I ever 'read', which meant I had memorized the words and page turns and eventually put words to letters.

That book upset me horribly when I was little. Even though everything worked out in the end, I felt so sorry for Grover up until that point that I could hardly stand it. (I had this sort of problem with a number of children's books, actually.) But it was something of a favorite anyway--I was sort of nuts about all things Grover, though perhaps less because of their relationship to the TV character and more because of their relationship to my beloved stuffed Grover.

Thanks for the link!

*boggle* If you didn't want Grover to be put through the stress of getting closer to the monster, then why did you turn the pages? I think you have to acknowledge your role as an accomplice of the monster.

I do have this nagging thought that part of the impetus for the awful awful Grover and *lm* book is some child psychologist's Ph.D. thesis on how Grover is begging children to not read.

It is.
I do own one. It was modified by Stuffe and Nonsense, and is now a Torture-Me *lm*

I'm not sure. The Purple One is limited to his own realm, whereas the Red Beast has invaded the once sacred place where we grew up, and has usurped the role of the most Super Muppet to be found, near or far.
