General life update

nollyOK, things as I think of them...
First up: Register for Conjecture! Book hotel rooms! It's coming right up, and if you're planning to attend, and haven't registered/reserved yet, please do so soon!
Next up: I'm seeing a new allergist now, and I like him a lot. A couple of consequences y'all should be aware of, particularly those who deal with me in person. Because I'm doing allergy testing next week, I'm off my antihistamines this week -- it takes a while for them to get out of the system. I've got a nasal spray that will hopefully help with congestion, but I may seem more congested/"teary" than usual -- because my eyes get red and watery, and I'm sniffly and all, I may look like I've been crying or am about to cry when neither is true. Please ask rather than assuming. Also, my sleep patterns may be affected. Please bear with me; things should be back to normal by the end of September.
Also, we discussed my history and previous diagnoses, and he gave me a green light to try some of the foods I've tested positive for in the past. Unlike many people, I have never had an anaphylactic response or any sort of response which would indicate a likelihood of such. If you see me eating something I've previously stated I'm allergic to, this is why. If I later tell you I'm allergic to something you've seen me eating, assume that was an experiment which went wrong.
I shouldn't have to say this, and hopefully, you all know it, but having read of others' experiences, I would feel remiss if I didn't: Do not, whatever you do, extrapolate from my experimenting to others -- if someone tells you they're alergic to something, do not assume the "a little bit won't hurt" -- for many people, that is simply not true.
Also upcoming: my birthday. More on planning for this in a later post, probably for locals only, but the current plan is movies, movies, movies. If you aren't normally local, but might be 9/30-10/2 (details not yet set), and would like to hear about my plans, let me know, so I can include you.
