Rita Update

My parents are now headed for my aunt and uncle's house in Tuscaloosa, but may end up staying at my grandparents' house in Birmingham, as my grandparents are on vacation. (and would have plenty of room anyway.)

Their house is fine, but there's no power and the phone is out, because there are scads of downed lines from all the fallen trees.

They live in Kirbyville, north and a bit east of Beaumont. It's 50-60 miles inland.

oh, I know Kirbyville well. Barry's kids live in Vidor, and he actually graduated high school in Nederland and then moved to Lumberton. We're supposed to go down there on the 7th. I don't see that happening!

Sounds like you know it better than I do! My folks moved there about a year ago, from a suburb of Houston. I haven't been there yet.

Some people have phone, some don't. It sounded like no one has power, and there's only sort-of water -- very low pressure.
