A productive evening
Jul. 24th, 2006 10:33 pmMade this tonight -- it's not actually as crooked as it looks in the picture; it's just lying at an angle. Getting better with the phonecam; lighting was less than ideal, but when I tried the flash, the image was completely washed out.
Anyway, the pendant: owl-face bead from Gem Mall, I believe -- I have quite a few of them; I'm not sure what I had in mind when I bought them. The other two are from past Beads of the Month packages; I didn't cross-reference the info sheets before I pulled the beads to my work tray, so I'm not entirely sure when. I think the round one at the bottom is rainforest nut or something similar; do any other BotMo people recognize the middle one?
The beads have been waiting for a bit, as I didn't have a suitable headpin on hand. (Beads, I have a plethora of. Findings, not so much.) I recently ordered a small torch and some fine silver wire for making ball headpins. (I'm sure I"ll find other uses for the torch eventually, too.) Itt arrived during Westercon, but I hadn't had time to find my butane, fill it, and give it a try until tonight. Took a few tries to get the flame right and the ball large enough, but it seems to have worked out.
Before I put this together, I did a bit more rearranging in the craft room and set up the lamp I bought shortly before Westercon. Forgot to pick up bulbs for it at the time, though. (Actually, I misread the package and thought they were included.) It's a torchiere with a reading/work light attached, and I had an appropriate bulb for the main light handy, but not for the work light. (I seem to like this style of lamp -- I have three, all different models. Two from Ikea and one from Target.) The craft room is coming together. Next steps include figuring out what to do with all the things that shouldn't be in there, like the inadequate lamp the new one is replacing. Eventually, it'll be quite a pleasant hideaway for crafting and yoga.

Date: 2006-07-25 06:04 am (UTC)The craft room has a lofted twin bed, which is nominally my guest bed, but mostly stuffed animal storage, a dresser holding the bead and fabric stashes, a desk which is my sewing table/beadwork space. off-season clothes, yarn, and unhung art storage in the closet, and assorted other things I put in there so the cats couldn't get at them. When it's less in a state of flux, perhaps I'll take some pictures.

(Unless I'm careful, someone I know will end up giving it to me for my BD... they always give me owls.)
