I inadvertently left my yoga shorts at home this morning. Since I'm driving a rental at the moment[1], I don't have a backup in the car. I won't have time between work and class to go home or to stop by the body shop and grab things out of my car, so I decided to see if I could find something near work.

Luckily, there are several possibilities near my office. Unfortunately, most shops near my office are targeted to people who are both skinnier and richer than I am. I had looked in the lulu lemon store a few weeks ago, and found very high prices and nothing in my size.

Instead, today I checked out the lucy website, found the sizes went up a bit higher and the prices, while not low, were more reasonable, and decided to check it out. I got a very comfortable pair of shorts -- in a size smaller than I'd expected -- and the saleswoman was very friendly and helpful. While I don't plan to make a habit of paying full price there, I will be watching for sale racks and coupons. On the way back to my office, I ran into a woman who noticed the bag, and told me that their clothes wear "like iron. You get tired of them before they wear out."

I felt welcome and comfortable in the store, without feeling at all pressured, and for an athletic-wear store, that's saying something.

[1] Monday morning, on my way to work, my rear passenger side tire exploded on the highway. At speed. Swerve swerve swerve spin. Oh look, I'm on the inside shoulder facing the wrong way. Hey, that's what a (passenger) side curtain airbag looks like...

I called 911, they called the highway patrol and AAA, Highway Patrol ran a traffic break so I could get turned around and on the other shoulder, AAA put the spare on, and I limped in to the shop, where I called my boss and my insurance, then got them started on fixing the car and called my parents.

I'm fine, no other cars were involved, but my car's in the shop for a couple of weeks.

Amusingly, my rental is the same make, model, and color as my car, but a year newer. All the controls and handling are exactly what I expect.

Glad you're okay enough that buying yoga wear is your top priority. :-)

Well, not _top_ priority, but not missing class is important to me, yes.

Thankful that wasn't "swerve swerve roll"!!! And glad to hear that you're okay!!!

Good luck finding yoga shorts... don't they usually, uh, stretch or something though. ;)

I found a pair at lucy that I'm quite happy with, other than paying a little more than I'd've preferred. Thus the post about what a nice store lucy is. :)

*whew close one*...
Did the tire damage your car much as it came off? In my friend's similar blowout, a dangling strip of tread basically flailed the heck out of his fender from the inside...

I'm glad your scary blowout didn't lead to anything worse.

About lululemon, one weird thing is that the numbers on their sizes don't fit with the numbers I know from other stores, and in the stores I've been in they don't post a conversion chart at all. Like a 14, which is the biggest they have, is said to fit a 45 inch hip size. I still haven't tried anything on there, and I agree with you that it seems expensive. That Lucy place looks neat.

I have a pair of Lucy pants I got for yoga, but I can't wear them for yoga because they're too warm. I used to wear them to spin class, where they didn't annoy me as much, but since that went away, mine are just sitting. (I broke down and got some lululemon yoga pants, because I forget why, but holy *crap* were they expensive. (Pretty, though.) They had better last 5 years.

The longer pants I tried on felt too warm to me, but I overheat somewhat easily. The shorts I bought are fine, though. On the other hand, I noticed a woman in the workshops I went to Saturday wearing Lucy pants. (We were doing some partner work, and I noticed the little orange mark.)
