I did get hold of my brother last ight, and we talked for an hour or so. Was good.
I've got X going now, but the KVM switch is not doing what it should -- I get a KB error on boot, and the mouse is all over the place with random clicking, so we're abandoning that and I'll have two monitors on my desk after all.
Got the key HR paperwork his morning -- I9, W4, etc., so I should be good to go for this pay period.
Given the lack of functioning GUI, I am finding that LJ is quite usable via lynx.
I have a Lightspan coffee mug, so I now have one or more mugs from every company I've worked for except Intel and the late Net-sphere/Xerago. I'd be surprised if the latter ever had mugs made -- [livejournal.com profile] lenniersd?
(Hey, this is cool -- I accidentally bumped the wrong key and left this form. Then hit a link. So I returned by typing in the URL. And my half-written entry was still here!)
I'm mostly settled in to the new cube -- a few of my wall-decor things didn't make it in to the box, and I haven't brought in my "emergency rations" yet, but it's looking occupied and showing some personality.
My big coffee mug doesn't fit under the coffee maker spout, so I'll have to reserve it for instant oatmeal (note to self: check breakroom for spoons, if none, buy some.) I'll either use the Lightspan mug or bring in my Scream mug, which is a bit larger, but not so large it won't fit.
Hardware in a drawer when I got here: keyboard, mouse, 5-port mini hub w/ power supply, small power strip/surge protector.

Two systems, not a two-headed system. One RedHat, one Win2K.

Yeah, you mentioned trouble with the KVM switch. Its been a while since i was running dual monitor.. I was confused.
I'm looking for cheap Black/White/Amber LCD screens that you could run command line on. I think that would be great. KVM switch over to a dumb terminal, ahh yes.
So do you know any other San Diego webloggers I can add to the list at www.websandiego.org/bloggers/ ?
