I'm the preschool (3-5 year olds) snack teacher at my church on Wednesday nights. We have an international theme this quarter, and tonight's country is Korea. The lesson plan is for ramen. Logistically, this is awkward; while I can do the snack in the kitchen (instead of at the table) and nuke it, it's harder to keep the kids under control, and it's likely to be messy. Plus, as far as I can tel from goggling, it's terrifically unauthentic.

I have access to Asian grocery stores, including 99 Ranch Market, which may be the most accessible. But I don't know what to get. Can't be too spicy, and I don't think dried squid or the like would go over too well, either. I've got some really picky eaters. Suggestions?

How about fried chicken? Seriously, it's the most common thing you'd find in Korea. There are chicken houses all over the place selling fried chicken and beer. Kind of like bars, but with food too. It's extremely popular with the native Korean people, not just the US forces there.

If you want something more oriental seeming, and not spicy, you might try sesame crackers for a very simple snack. If you want to get a little more adventurous, you could cook some rice, either by itself or with beans in it.

Here's a page with some quick ideas. The marinated thin-sliced beef is really good too.

Can't be too spicy

That leaves out most Korean food, alas. At least the stuff I ate.

Seriously, chicken and beef BBQ is the most common thing I saw over there. Lots of rice, and you can get mild kimchee

I would probably center on rice, with different things you can add to it, including mild kim chee, soy sauce, maybe a marinated meat dish with sauce that will spill into the rice when served over it... and of course the dishes could go w/o rice for the rice-allergic/phobic/picky.
