lenniersd?), I'm planning to have a birthday celebration between movies. What I'm thinking about is bringing a miscellany of strange candies and such, the sort of thing I'm always curious about, but don't want to get stuck with a whole package of if I don't like. I'm definitely including Turkish Delight, probably from CostPlus, and will look for interesting foodstuffs there. I'm probably going to hit 99 Ranch and Mitsuwa in search of imported Asian candy/cookies/chips. Here's where you come in, Constant Reader:
1) Suggestions for items I should definitely look for?
2) Suggestions for items I should definitely avoid? (Having seen the badcandy.com videos, anything tamarind is on this list already.)
3) If you know San Diego, any other stores I should hit?

You'll find all sorts of neatness at Mitsuwa, including some odd-flavored gum.
Things to avoid: salt liquorice. A friend sells this at her toy store and got
me to try it. I tried two, which turned out to be way two many! :)
