I am several chapters into the second book of the Gormenghast trilogy.
Please give me one or more reasons to keep slogging.
The prose may be lush, but so is an impassable jungle, and I find myself longing for a machete. Will diligence be rewarded in the end, or would I be hooked by now if it were my cup of tea?

I even tried the audiobook and I barely made it through the first few chapters.
