Mar. 22nd, 2006 09:41 amSpoke to the home warranty company again, and now I'm all confused -- apparently, they still don't actually know what the problem is, and if it's a foreign object -- and no one can think of another explanation -- they won't cover, but if it is something else going on, they will, and the guy from yesterday hasn't turned in his final report yet...meh. I'm going to see if anyone at church tonight can recommend a plumber (or is one!) and probably just deal with this on my own, unless the warranty comes though with something quickly.

Date: 2006-03-22 08:01 pm (UTC)In that particular case, we ended up getting a new washing machine when the first twit had wanted to try and fix it. The next company said "hell no, it's worthless to try and repair it because this will just happen again, time for a new one!" and the warranty company paid for a new one.

Date: 2006-03-22 06:20 pm (UTC)When we moved in, our downstairs furnace was incorrectly installed in a dugout hole in our crawlspace. It was about 8 years old and water had to go uphill to drain. The first winter we were here, the heat exchanger died. The warranty company couldn't find anyone willing to do the work (no surprise, they were going to pay them about $100 to do the work - it was a two-day, two man job). They were willing to reimburse us $75 if we had the heat exchanger fixed. After two weeks of no heat, we opted to hire an actual professional to properly install a new gas pack furnace for the house.
